Cinnamon Roll Pulls

So. I gave the whole pull apart bread thing another shot. And I think I was more successful this time. I bought the biggest loaf of bread I could find. Which was an Italian bread, when it was supposed to be sourdough. I thought it wouldn’t make that much of a difference, but it actually did. It almost had a little too much flavor, which was interesting.

This recipe makes a vanilla honey butter to spread in between instead of regular butter. Holy shit that stuff is good. I just want to make that and put it in everything.

But yeah, this was pretty easy to make. A little messy, but I think it was worth it.

Baked Mashed Potatoes

So they’re supposed to look like this. All cute and individualized and what not. But see that bowl up there? That’s the only one I have, so this is what I did with the rest:

ta-da. Just as good, just in a bigger bowl.

Anyway, potatoes are one of my favorite foods, hands down, so I was all over making these.

Confession. Being a college student with little to no time on my hands ever, when I want to soften potatoes to mash them, I thrown them in the microwave. Works just as fine. But, I had the time last night, so I figured why the hell not, let’s boil them in a pot like normal people do.

Yeah I had no idea it takes like a half hour to boil five potatoes. That would have been like 10-15 minutes in the microwave. But I digress. I got impatient and after a half hour, I just mashed them anyway, so these were a little lumpier than I would have liked, but oh well.

All of the stuff that’s added in? The pepper, cheese, and butter? I would do more, but that’s just me. I actually ended up adding a little more butter when I ate them.

But I thought these were good. A little too much effort to for slightly fancier mashed potatoes, but that’s my only complaint.

(There’s some other potato side dish recipes on that page too!)

Cake Batter Pudding Cookies

Remember how I said I love cake batter? Yeah… basically I can’t resist any recipe that has cake batter in the title.

And I’ll say, the dough for this tastes really good, I could have been good on just that.

But the cookies themselves? They were alright. I mean, they tasted good, but they were nothing revolutionary you know what I mean? I also now have almost an entire opened box of cake mix because this recipe only calls for 3/4 of a cup. So, I need to find an excuse to make a cake fairly soon.

But like I said, nothing amazing, but I’m not complaining either haha.

Jello Shot Cupcakes

So I’ve decided that from now on, I’m never going to try to make homemade frosting ever again. Every time I try to make cupcakes, the cupcake part is good, but the frosting turns out like shit.

Granted, I don’t own a standing mixer. When I read it, I was like oh those ingredients will mix together easily, not realizing that the mixer thickens the mixture. So after 10 minutes of hand whisking, it had only thickened a little, and my mom was like “just use it like a glaze or something”. So I go to do that, but at that point, I had whisked it to a point where it was still way too thin to be frosting, but it was to thick to be a glaze, hence the mess you see above.

As for the cupcake part, I thought they were pretty good. The recipe calls for coconut rum, which I don’t really like, so I got passionfruit rum instead, and I think that mixed with the strawberry jello was a good combo.

My sisters? They hated them, said they were gross. Granted, one of them is 14 and didn’t like the rum part. My other sister definitely likes rum, but she said that cupcakes and alcohol shouldn’t mix.

So…yeah these were kind of a miss. Which sucks because I wanted to find something fun to make for a party, oh well, I guess I just have to keep looking!
