Tales from a 20-Something's Kitchen.

One girl's mission to take on Pinterest. And win. And eat some great food in the process.

Homemade Snickers Bars

I am so goddamn proud of myself.

Legit.

Granted, that’s mostly the recipe. It’s kind of ridiculously easy as long as you follow it. You just have to build each layer on top of the other one.

Some of the layers have to harden and cool before you put on the next one. Popping them in the freezer for a few minutes can expedite this process, but don’t do it for too long, or you’ll be dealing with a solid brick on your hands. Especially after the final layer. Just put that in the fridge, or else you’ll be trying to cut through solid rock of chocolate things.

But. Make sure the layer you’re putting on top is also cool enough. Or you’ll start to melt the layer beneath it. I did it not only with the nougat layer, but also with the caramel layer because I didn’t learn my lesson.

Speaking of the nougat. I made freaking nougat. It tasted good. You have to boil it in a saucepan and I thought I was going to burn it at one point, but saved it just in time.

Also, this didn’t affect the taste, but I used chocolate chips from two different bags for the top and bottom chocolate layer, so the top and bottom are two different colors…oops. Haha.

But yeah, if you have the time. Do this. They’re awesome.
