Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles

Also, this is my first recipe in my new apartment! I moved about three weeks ago into a bigger place (read: bigger kitchen) with some friends, and I finally had some time to get some groceries and make a recipe last night.

So, this started out a pretty standard eggless cookie dough recipe. I actually think it’s one of the best ones I’ve ever tasted, so that was exciting.

But when it comes to these damn truffle recipes, the chocolate coating part is always my downfall.

I melted the chocolate and hoped for the best. I didn’t use shortening because I still have nightmares of that crap from when I worked at a cupcake shop in college.

And then the disaster started. I tried using a fork, as the recipe suggested, but it kept getting stuck in the dough. Then I tried a spoon method, that also did not go well. So I gave up and just started using my fingers. Much more effective. Also a lot more messy.

Then I didn’t do it quick enough and the frozen cookie dough balls started to soften in the chocolate. So, some have weird little bald spots.

But you know what? After all that, they still tasted pretty good. I’m also excited for these roommates because they have as big of a sweet tooth as me, so I know I’ll have more to share!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake Bars


This was interesting. It sounded so good, but it never really came out exactly right. Partially my fault.

The graham cracker crust should have been the easiest part. I did everything right, but for some reason, the crust never really set, creating this lovely mess:


And also, the crust falls off of the bars a little bit.

For the cookie dough, we ran out of brown sugar, and I still needed 1/4 of a cup, so I did white sugar instead. And the recipe said it’s supposed to be drier, and crumble, it didn’t do that.

For the cheesecake, I didn’t have quite enough cream cheese, but eh whatever.

So, this is supposed to be layered. But when I tried to spread out the cookie dough, it started mixing with the cheesecake layer. So, I said fuck it and swirled the two layers, producing the finished product

All in all, I would maybe give this one a go again, maybe find a different version of it? If you’ve tried it, let me know what you think!



Cookie Dough Brownies

So, this recipe basically consists of two parts. Brownie and eggless cookie dough on top.

I made a poor college girl adjustment to this recipe. Now, I love making things from scratch as much as the next person, but making brownies from scratch is expensive. Baking chocolate alone is almost five bucks. So, I said forget that and grabbed the two dollar box brownies mix. And it still tastes just as good.

The cookie dough part is really good, except it was a little sticky, so I had some difficulty spreading it over the brownie layer, but it worked out pretty well in the end.
